This is another reason for my scepticism.īut let's try to stay positive. Sadly enough, not many youtubers use youth players a lot and the ones that do are sadly not very influential. Yeah I fear the same, I doubt whether it will be addressed until the next installment. Not only that, it’s a bug that will probably see us until one of the YouTubers start a new save and find it, they tell EA and they think about sorting it until they sort it. Season three starts, he’s 73 rated, at club since and worth £2m still, meaning his potential has dropped even more. Already knowing this happens, I manually sim each match with him playing every match, luckily plays well with a 7.6, green thumbs all round. Second season starts and he’s gone from exciting prospect to at club since and at a 70 rated 18 year old he’s worth £2m which is a massive indicator of course. I worked on his attributes and work rates, which were inevitably medium/low, and gave him enough playing time to give him a green thumbs up. In my first season I luckily scouted one of those late 60’s, already ready players, a centre back, and promoted straight away. I’ve had the same problem in my saves and I have further investigated. I hope these issues get addressed, as they make road to glories or saves heavily relying on the youth academy almost impossible. They then went on from 'having potential to be special' to 'at the club since' or 'showing great potential', even though did not even have a chance to play a game as the season had already been finished in terms of games. Again, I have had multiple occasions where I had to promote youth players because they threatened to leave. Therefore, you either completely lose the player or you give them a contract, only for them to lose all their potential the next season.

Furthermore, this problem is enhanced by the fact that you sometimes get the message that 'a youth player demands a pro contract or leaves'. When you promote youth players towards the end of the season (when all games have been played), they get the earlier metioned massive downgrade as well.
Secondly, while my first point is maybe more of an opinion, this second point is most definitely a bug.
Therefore, I would suggest that the downgrade in potential for youth/young players is nerfed down a bit in order to make it more realistic. In real life when an eighteen year old footballer plays 10 games a season, their potential would remain the same or at max decrease like three points. This means that they went from a 90+ to a 79 or lower potential, which is a decrease of at least 11 points.

I have seen a lot of youth/young players go from 'has potential to be special' to 'at the club since' within a season, even when they have played around 10 games (which is quite a lot for a youth/young player in their first season of professional football) and playing relatively well at around a 7,0 average grade. When a youth/young player does not play a lot during a season, they get a massive (in my opion too massive) downgrade in their potential. Whilst dynamic potential is overall working pretty good in this game, this does not apply to youth/young players. This post has two parts, with the second part being a 100% certain bug and the first part being more of an opinion, but could still be considered a bug.įirstly, I have noticed that the potential of youth/young players gets adjusted incorrectly with dynamic potential. I would like to leave a note regarding a potential bug in career mode regarding youth/young player potential downgrades.
